Salsa

Salsa is a popular form of social dance that originated in the Caribbean.

 

The movements of salsa have origins in Puerto Rican bomba and plena, Cuban Son, cha-cha-cha, mambo and other dance forms.

Some of the well-known Salsa music artists are Maxima 79, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony.

Bachata has its origin from Dominican Republic and one of the most popular dance styles around the world.

 

Bachata is known for its sensual moves and easy-learn approach. Different styles of bachata are Dominican Bachata, Bachata Moderna, Bachata Sensual.

 

Some of the well-known Bachata music artists are Romeo Santos, Prince Royce, Daniel Santacruz, Dani J.

The cha-cha-chá, or simply cha-cha in the U.S., is a dance of Cuban origin.

 

It is danced to the music of the same name introduced by Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrin in the early 1950s. This rhythm was developed from the danzón-mambo.

Samba

Samba is a lively, rhythmical dance of Afro-Brazilian origin danced to Samba music whose origins include the Maxixe. Samba is a dance to black/African people in Brazil who brought much of their music and dance culture into Latin America with them upon arrival into many Latin American countries.

Samba de Gafieira is a partner dance style to the Brazilian samba musical rhythms. The style originated in Rio de Janeiro-Brazil around the 1940's and its name was taken from the places where this style of dance was practiced.

 

The "Gafieira" was a popular dance place frequented by the working class and locals where traditional Samba, Batuque, Bossa Nova, Chorinho & Pagode was played.

 

Gafieira evolved mixing Samba No Pe steps, influence of the sharpness of Argentinian Tango and the sophistication of ballroom. It is a pair dance but in an artistic performance solo variations including steps from Samba no Pé are often added.
